AWARDS AND CITATIONS:
While on active duty I earned several citations.
The following is a brief overview of two;
- Received the US Coast Guard Commandants Letter of Commendation for saving three other service members’ lives after a helicopter crash aboard a Ambrose Lighthouse seven miles off the shore of NY and NJ. I immediately took charge of the situation and sounded the alarm. I assisted my subordinates in carrying one of the victims up nearly 200 ft from the ocean to the flight deck of the light station, so that the awaiting helicopter could convey him to the hospital. I then performed CPR on the victim during that flight to the hospital.
- Awarded the US Coast Guard Commendation Medal for outstanding service in the performance of my duties, while managing the Lighthouse Maintenance program at the Aids to Navigation Team in NY. In addition, I developed a project that would later realize a savings of nearly $20,000 to my unit.
